MHP Anadrox Review

|

MHP have a developing reputation in the supplements industry, so it’s always interesting taking a look at their products. In this review, we’ll be looking at their fat burner supplement, MHP Androx.

Claimed to promote:

  • Muscle pumps
  • Energy
  • Fat loss

What’s strange about this fat burner, is that it offers benefits more commonly associated with pre workout supplements like enhanced muscle pumps. So in effect, MHP seem to have aimed to create a fat burner that’s able to improve your performance in the gym.

About The Company

We learned that MHP have been around for a long time and were founded in 1997. Their aim is to ‘develop superior sports nutrition products’, by creating numerous types of supplements (including pre workouts and test boosters).

MHP also sponsor high level athletes, including Chris Bumstead and Melanie Tillbrook.

The Ingredients and How They Work

Just by looking at Anadrox’s nutrient profile, you can see that it’s filled with an overload of ingredients. Just to put this into perspective, many products contain under 10, while Anadrox contains way over 20.

But this isn’t always a good thing. We found that supplements containing less ingredients are more likely to be underdosed, so this is something that we’ll be keeping an eye on in this section.

Not only that, you can see that the ingredients inside MHP Anadrox are inside a proprietary blend; this means you don’t know the exact dosages of nutrients inside, making it harder to determine the overall safety and effectiveness of this fat burner.

If we go through all the ingredients in this product, then we’ll both be here all day. So instead, we’ll analyze the most important nutrients in MHP Anadrox.

See for yourself:

MHP-anadrox-ingredients

L-Arginine

This is the first ingredient in the ‘VasoThermic Pump Inducing Fat Burning Activators’ blend. It’s able to raise your nitric oxide levels in your body, but l-arginine has shown to have a poor absorption rate when consumed in supplements.

As a result, it’s not certain whether this ingredient will be effective in MHP Anadrox here – especially as you’re not the exact amount of it inside.

L-Tyrosine

L-tyrosine is an amino acid that’s shown to improve your cognition (memory, focus, alertness etc). You can’t argue with this, but the only issue is that it’s included in an unknown quantity, due to being inside a proprietary blend.

Again, this means we’re unable to determine how effective this will be in Anadrox. However, as l-tyrosine hasn’t shown to promote fat loss, we would have preferred something able to boost your metabolism like green coffee bean extract instead.

Taurine

This is a useful addition to supplements, but it’s never really a key one. Basically, taurine has shown to help prevent cramping during exercise, which will keep you performing at your best.

However, realistically you should be keeping yourself hydrated at all times, so it shouldn’t be necessary either. The bad news is that taurine has no effect on fat loss.

Citrulline Malate

We mentioned that Anadrox was aimed at being a pre workout supplement as well as a fat burner. Well, citrulline malate is an ingredient commonly seen in pre workouts.

Why? Answer: it’s able to raise your nitric oxide levels by converting into l-arginine in your kidneys (taking away l-arginine’s issue of having a poor absorption rate).

Studies have shown that it works, and you can’t argue with that, but they have concluded that you need at least 6,000mg per serving for it to work.

Now, as you know by now, citrulline malate is inside a proprietary blend, meaning you don’t know the dosage of it inside; this also means that we can’t confirm whether it’ll be effective in Anadrox either.

Citrus Aurantium Extract

While citrus aurantium extract might be the 1st ingredient that’s able to promote fat loss so far, it’s not the best either.

Why? Answer: citrus aurantium has been reported to cause many side effects when consumed in supplements, so this is why we try to avoid this ingredient.

DHEA

Similarly to citrus aurantium extract, DHEA is known for its ability to promote fat loss. However, while it might not cause numerous side effects on a regular basis, the bad news is that DHEA is banned from use in many sport organizations.

As a result, if you compete in any sport, then we strongly recommend that you check whether DHEA is banned or not.

Bladderwrack Kelp

This isn’t a common ingredient in fat burners, so we had to do some research ourselves to see whether it was safe or effective. It’s basically a ‘posh’ name for brown seaweed.

Basically, after reading about it, we don’t consider it to be a key fat burning ingredient. Although it does seem to contain some useful antioxidants.

Guarana Seed Extract

Guarana seed extract is a stimulant that delivers similar effects to caffeine; this is a good thing when it’s the only stimulant inside a product, but Anadrox also contains caffeine in green tea extract too.

As you know, consuming too many stimulants can cause jitters, which eventually leads to a dreaded energy crash. As a result, we don’t recommend that you consume more than 1 source of stimulant in a fat burner supplement.

Green Tea Extract

Now, this is the best ingredient inside Anadrox; green tea extract has shown to help you burn fat at a faster rate than normal, and is also beneficial for your organs too.

Green tea extract is known to be most effective when consumed in dosages above 500mg per serving. Unfortunately, as it’s inside a proprietary blend, you’re not shown the exact dosage in Anadrox, making it uncertain whether it’ll work properly.

Now, green tea extract will usually contain minimal amounts of caffeine. But MHP have stated that it contains the equvalent to 150mg caffeine anhydrous in Anadox; this wouldn’t be bad if it was the only stimulant inside Anadrox, but remember that this fat burner contains guarana seed extract too.

As a result, you’ll never know whether Anadrox contains too much caffeine until you try it for yourself. Personally, we like to know the exact caffeine dosage in supplements before taking them.

Tumeric Root Extract

You might be familiar with this ingredient if you enjoy cooking. It’s commonly found in curries and known for it’s distinctive yellow color.

It contains high amounts of antioxidants and has shown to improve your general health. However, it’s not known to be an effective fat burning ingredient.

Side Effects

If you read the main ingredients section, then you’ll know that there’s a couple of nutrients in Anadrox that we’re concerned about.

Just to remind you, citrus aurantium has shown to cause numerous side effects including nausea and high blood pressure. Not only that, DHEA has been banned in many sport organizations, so you should check your sport if you’re a competitive athlete.

Also, as Anadrox contains an unknown quantity of stimulants, you might be at risk from jitters and energy crashes – especially if you’re sensitive to stimulants.

  • Nausea
  • High blood pressure
  • Jitters
  • Energy crashes

Review Conclusion

MHP has clearly completed some research before putting together their fat burner, Anadrox. It contains some great ingredients like green tea extract and citrulline malate, but this is another example of why hybrid supplements don’t really work.

We believe that you should choose 1 goal when buying supplements; if you’re main aim is to lose fat, then buy a premium fat burner that’s fully committed to getting the job done.

Personally, what lets this fat burner down is that it contains DHEA, which makes it unusable for professional athletes. As a result, we recommend looking for a product that doens’t contain any nutrients that are prohibited in any sports organizations.
